50 Inspiring Farmhouse Style Kitchen Lighting Fixtures Ideas 31

Kitchen lights, also referred to as lights, come in a variety of styles, colors, shapes and sizes. This gives the user a wide choice of lighting options to choose from.

Some of the most common types of lights are:

ceiling lights

Ceiling lights are designed to provide the entire kitchen with general lighting. As a rule, they project from the ceiling and are usually the largest lighting element in the kitchen. These lights can also be hung over a breakfast nook or a kitchen table. There are two types of ceiling lights. Ceiling mounting bracket with glass or diffuser that touches the ceiling, and semi-flush ceiling fixtures with the arch protruding a few inches from the ceiling and indirect light reflected off the ceiling (think of a top) umbrella down.

chandelier

Chandeliers are also referred to as suspension or chain fastenings. Like ceiling lights, chandeliers are suspended from the ceiling. However, they require more space and bring more pizzazz compared to normal ceiling lights. They provide general lighting and have at least two arms with downlights or uplights. They are most commonly used with formal dining rooms or dining tables.

pendant

Hanging kitchen lights are decorative lights. They usually hang from the ceiling and provide both general and workplace lighting. Most kitchen designers prefer to place them over counter areas or islands where food, conversation, baking, and food preparation take place. A good example of pendant luminaires is the miniature pendant lamp, which is normally used for small kitchen spaces and has a size of about 30 cm or less. Another example is the Island Light or Multi-Light Pendant, which is also suitable for larger rooms that require more light.

wall lights

Wall lights are a type of kitchen lights that are usually mounted on the wall. They can take the form of scones that match a pendant, ceiling light or chandelier. They can provide either task, accent or general lighting. Some of the common places wall lights are used are either the sides of a work of art, a decorative spatter or the use as the center of a stable.

track lighting

This type of kitchen lamp, also referred to as railing lighting systems, offers a wide range of design options. The route can be long or short, curved or straight. Headlamps, pendulums or other kitchen lights can be hung at different points, directions and heights on the rail to set accents, tasks or general lighting.

recessed lighting

This type of kitchen lighting, also known as can lighting, is located in the ceiling instead of being attached to or suspended from the ceiling. This type of kitchen faucet is the perfect choice for those who prefer discreet lighting over a decorative one. Recessed lights can provide task, accent or general kitchen lighting.

Under cabinet fixtures

This type of kitchen light is available in mini-rail systems, narrow strips, surface-mounted luminaires or small mounting plates called pucks. Under-floor luminaires are usually installed under wall cabinets to ensure work lighting by illuminating work surfaces and counters without throwing shadows. They can also be installed in cupboards with glass fronts.

Since the common types of kitchen lights listed above are available in most stores, only the kitchen needs to be rated to determine the right type of lighting to achieve the desired effect.
